:)

MM Lee says he's "not quite sold" on the idea of 6.5 million ppl.

well, neither am i.

hello, we are exploding already pls. this metropolis once so cosy has morphed into a living hell of jostling homo sapiens. just observe the trains at rush hour and you'll see what i mean. it's a nightmare even getting on the first train that comes, and even after you get in, another horrific trauma unfolds as you helplessly attempt to maintain your composure and balance as you struggle for air in the compartment of people packed like sardines in a can.

God help you if you are claustrophobic.

God help you if you should lose your balance.

GOD HELP YOU IF YOU ARE WEARING HEELS. omg the days that i teeter to work on heels are the days that necessitate a silent prayer for a pole to hold on to in the train.

if no pole is available, the hand of a sister does wonders too. :) there are times when i cant stand the way she treats me, but i love her all the same :)

anyway, speaking of poles, some ppl ought to take up pole-dancing lessons. for the very reason that they have this inexplicable affinity for poles, so much so that they cant seem to detach their very bodies from them. thus risking the ire of their fellow commuters like me.

there was this woman on the train who was not only leaning against the pole but also gripping onto the hand support for dear life. try as i did to impart some sort of telepathic msg towards her, her whole body remained plastered stubbornly to the pole. hello lady i know you fear for your life but pls spare a thought for the ppl around wont you?? hell hath no fury like a commuter with no pole or support to hold on to and well, if not for the innate singaporean trait of keeping my mouth shut and minding my own business, i'd have verbalised my irritation. i merely vented my annoyance in little physical ways that i shall not mention here.

if there should be a next time, well well well, no more holding it in for me. speak up i shall. those bastards who lean on poles, just watch out.

and when i say earlier that the city is exploding, i meant in the sense of foreign presence too. generally, i harbour no ill-will towards the uncountable foreigners (talent or not) that settle here, whether temporarily or permanently, but it is nonetheless disconcerting sometimes. the vendors in the food courts, the salespersons in pharmacies, the regular colleague in the office, the lady who assists you in the boutique..... it seems to me like they're all either from china or m'sia! no offence, but it spooks me a little.

anyway, work's been alright. the mandarin dept seems the liveliest and i'm glad. :) my first calls were accompanied by increases in heartbeats, flushes of the cheeks and stutters that just wont go away. practice, however, makes perfect, and i'm more in tune with the steps now. had a full day of calls (with much much help from emily) on fri, then mock call by jun nan. so far things are fine.

six months? i think i might just make it. (:
